Let's Build an Orphanage
These are fundraising projects. This is the way it works: If someone raises $20 and sends it in we get to color in a brick on our building. We are going to call it “buying a brick.” If someone raises $250 they can “buy a window,” $100 “buys a sheet of tin for the roof,” and $500 “buys a door.” These are not the real costs of these items, but for fundraising purposes we are going to color in one of these when someone sends in that much money. For example if your group raises $500 and sends it in you can say that you want to buy a door and we will color it in, or you can say that you want to buy twenty-five bricks with that $500 and we will color them in instead.
Current projects:
Granaries
For this project we are going to build granaries to symbolize the grain we need to buy for the orphans. It will cost us $10,000 to build each of our imaginary granaries. This will represent $10,000 worth of food bought. Now the orphans eat every day, so as soon as we get done with building one of our imaginary granaries we will probably have to start on another. When crops are not being harvested there are lots of starving children who come to our gates and beg to be fed. Now that the crops are coming in we want to buy as much grain as we can so that we can be ready for them this year.

New Orphanage at Glory Children's Center
Glory Children's Center now has 103 children in a temporary orphanage. Of that number only 19 remain to be sponsored. All these children are crammed into one house, plus one room in a house next door. They are in desperate need of a new orphanage, and the land has already been purchased. The amount we hope to raise is $120,000. Each of our fundraising buildings below will raise about $40,000. We need to complete three of them before we can complete our orphanage. The new orphanage will consist of a boys dorm, girls dorm, a main hall (for meeting and eating), school buildings, and some miscellaneous buildings as needed.

Two new buildings for Good Samaritan Lwanda Children's Home
The Good Samaritan Lwanda Children's Home has 46
orphans. Thirty-one of these orphans
were brought to Hope Center by the Kenyan Government when they closed down
another orphanage in the area. These orphans are all currently living in two
small mud houses, with the addition of sleeping space in some nearby school
buildings. Hearth to Hearth Ministries needs to build a new orphanage at Glory
Children Center before a complete orphanage can be built for Good Samaritan Lwanda Children's Home, but in the meantime we need two new buildings so that
there is more room to house these orphans. The amount we have to raise is
$15,000 for each building.
